E&S/Specialty paid summer internships at Nationwide take place for 10 to 12 weeks and are located at both our Scottsdale, Arizona, New York City and other campuses. Our interns receive high-profile assignments and are regarded as full-time associates.

Actuarial
- Actuarial pricing interns work alongside our actuaries on real pricing tasks including rate reviews, impact calculations, and filing support, and gain exposure to all areas of the Actuarial Department through job shadows with the Reserving and Analytics teams.
Claims
- Claims interns in our technical and/or support services area help us deliver our "On Your Side" experience to our members.
Information technology
- Application development interns help develop various business technology applications.
- Test automation interns control the execution of tests and the comparison of actual outcomes with predicted outcomes.
- RA/test interns are part of a high-profile company project team that will develop and test a package software platform.
Operations
- Processor interns deliver efficient, quality service by processing incoming work requests.
- Process continuous improvement interns help to build continuous improvement, quality, training, and business technology solutions that create efficiencies across the organization.
Underwriting
- E&S/Specialty underwriting interns acquire tangible, hands-on experience and insight into all aspects of our business. They learn the importance of customer relationships and what underwriters are looking for in each risk while contributing to company projects, working through case studies with mentors, and discovering the unique accounts we insure.
- Management Liability and Specialty underwriting interns learn about the underwriting process for management and cyber liability products for commercial entities and financial institutions, develop the skills to understand financial statements and policy language, and study the role of marketing/relationship building in insurance.
- Middle market underwriting interns learn the basics of underwriting systems and risk appetite information, assist the team with reports, and support our large account stewardship and large account review committee.
